File synchronization tool
The program we’ll talk today about is File Sync. Created as file synchronization tool the program is simple and functional – by the way it’s traditional for Moleskinsoft programs.
File Sync is the utility allowing to make comparison of two directories to find out common and various traits. Besides, File Sync carries out file synchronization (as it is visible from the program name) that is it leads the maintenance of one directory to the maintenance of another. The program is very useful when you need to carry out the analysis of the maintenance of directories and the dynamics of the maintenance change. Especially it’s needed if the work in the directories was conducted by different people and it is impossible to understand what each of them has brought to the maintenance of the folders, how much folders have been changed in comparison with the initial maintenance, etc.
In 1.6. version of the program there is the possibility to carry out the directory analysis under tasks. Differently you can select such quantity of compared pairs as you need and to carry out the analysis and synchronization practically simultaneously. The next task can be started by the command File-New task. Having named the task name you have an opportunity to execute comparison and synchronization of two directories.
As seen from the picture the window of the file synchronization tool is divided into two sub windows in which the results of the analysis of both windows’ maintenances are presented. The buttons “Browse” loads each of both folders, and button “Analyze” carries out the comparative analysis of the maintenance of the directories. Thus if any elements in both folders coincide with each other, between these files the equal-sign is put. If the files are present in the left folder but being absent in the right one – the sign >. If on the contrary – the sign < (as shown in the picture).
It is necessary to notice, that unlike directory comparison, file synchronization is not the obligatory element of the analysis. About file synchronization we’ll talk in the next time.
