File Sync is the program which carries out folder comparison and file synchronization. What is folder comparison and file synchronization.
For example, you want to check up how much two directories (folders) coincide in content, whether they have common files and if yes what files, how many ones and what is their size. It is folder comparison.
Classical example of folder comparison usage is the work on common projects (for example, in programming or design). As a rule, such work is spent both within the limits of the general design folder (in working place) and in separate folders (at home). For this reason monitoring of current changes in participants’ design folders is so important to trace these changes and to find out how much the end result differs from the initial one.
File synchronization is the second stage of comparative folder analysis. Within the limits of file synchronization the windows file sync reduces the content of one of folders to a common denominator. That is files of one of folders (or its content as a whole) become files (or the content) of another folder.
The windows file sync File Sync spends folder comparison and file synchronization using such means as Analyze and Sync. Both program tools are located in the bottom of the basic program window. However, in the program there’s only one window. It is one more pleasant surprise for users – there is no need to search for the necessary option for a long time.
However, a unique window which the program has is possible to break into two windows conditionally. In them the content of both compared folders in the windows file sync is displayed. To load this content take advantage of buttons “Browse” in the top panel of the program window. Have you loaded? Ок, we will continue.
As we’ve told any directories that is the locations containing files and folders can be compared. In the program these locations can be the whole disks and folders.
After both directories are loaded File Sync by means of special indicators shows how the files containing in analyzed folders correspond among themselves. In the program there are provided three such indicators. Firstly, a green circle which testifies that the specified file belongs to both folders. Secondly, an arrow to right. It specifies that files opposite to which this arrow is, belong to the left analyzed folder. Accordingly, the arrow to left specifies that the files concerns to the right folder.
The last two indicators are important to consider while carrying out of file synchronization. If the arrow is directed to the right, the files will appear in the right folder, if the arrow has a left direction – the files become the part of the left folder. The process of file synchronization occupies few seconds and are manged with the help of button “Sync”. To stop this process (as well as folder comparison) is possible with the help of «Stop».
