File Sync works with two types of operations – file synchronization and comparison of folders with their content.
The folders and files comparison helps to solve many problems in computer usage. For example, to define if there identical files which reduce free space and lead to its inefficient use on PC hard disk.
File synchronization allows to make some files common for two folders. Differently, a file (or files) which belong to one of compared folders also become a part of the second folder.
As a rule, file synchronization is spent if there is the necessity to restore the folder content when changes in a folder have removed some necessary files which were in an initial folder.
How are file synchronization and folder comparison in the compare directory software spent? Let’s get acquainted with the interface of the program closer.
The program consists of one small window which is conditionally divided into two sub-windows in which the maintenance of two compared folders takes places. To load both folders you need to take advantage of buttons «Browse» on the top panel of the program – in the left and right part accordingly. Between these buttons the option (in the form of a key) «Project Settings» is located. What is the project in File Sync?
Folder comparison in the program is spent in a special mode – in shape of projects which included by two compared folders. Obviously that the number of possible combinations of such folders is unlimited as well as the number of such projects is unlimited. The project is started simply – it’s enough to choose the option «File-New Task» and to choose the name for this task (or project) – any name as you consider to approach to your project.
But we will return to Project Settings. This option allows to set key project parameters. Besides the name about which we’ve already told there are sync type, filter and schedule.
«Sync type» allows to define type of file synchronization (any way, left to right, right to left).
The filter defines the files with what extensions can be excluded from file synchronization (an option «Excluded by mask»).
The schedule defines frequency and sequence of carried out operations – file synchronization and folder comparison.
Both operations - folder comparison and file synchronization – are spent by means of options «Analyze» and «Sync». It is possible to stop these operations using button “Stop”.
If you look at the compare directory software window you are certainly surprised of poor enough in respect of tool panels interface of the compare photos software. The panel of tools in the program is only one and it’s impossible to get confused in the commands located on this panel. However, even if you get confused you’ll be helped by an option «Help».
