Increase disk space
Today we’ll talk about the program which will help you to solve problems with the shortage of disk space (for example, to increase disk space), as well as to optimize disk structure, files and folders arrangement and their interrelation.
Directory Size is the program which analyzes disk space including the arrangement of files and their structure and visually represents the results in the form of schedules and tables. If you look at the program interface you will certainly see more attentively that the program consists of four windows. It is not casual. In each of these windows you make a certain part works (procedure) which allows you to take advantage of a following window.
The movement through the windows passes clockwise. We will begin our movement with the top left window.
In this window you can choose a directory (a disk or a folder) which content you’d like to analyze. The disk choice is carried out automatically by means of the list. It’s enough to choose «Scan noted disk». The folder analysis is necessary to start with «Scan a folder». In the window you can choose a folder you want to scan for the further analysis.
The preliminary disk (folder) structure will appear there and then, in the first window. Here you can learn what folders are included into the structure of the analyzed directory, as well as their size (in gigabytes or megabytes).
However, about structure and the content of the folder you receive the basic representation if look at the next window – top right one. Here Directory Size to increase disk space gives the chance to estimate all possibilities of the program. In this window all folders and files included into the analyzed directory structure, as well as the detailed content of folders of following levels are presented.
What information can be received on each file and folder? Firstly, the size - both in megabytes (kilobytes, gigabytes – the measurement measure is installed on the top panel of the program), and in percents. Secondly if it is a folder in quantity of files and folders this folder includes.
The program has an interesting means which allows to define both the size of file/folder, and the occupied space. As the practice shows the second indicator approximately on 1 % more than the first one. The option is on the top panel of the window in the right part in the form of the crossed arrows. By means of other option («Files and folders») you can receive full representation about structure of the directory. The information can be presented also in the form of extension, owner, size gradation and time. In a word, in the form of the basic file properties.
Following window is a bottom right one. With the help of this window of Directory Size to increase disk space it is possible to receive evident representation about directory structure. For this purpose the utility will involve two variant of the schedule – bars and pies. Besides, in the window you can set color diagramme scale and a background, as well as to keep result in a Bitmap file.
The last window has a help function and allows to receive the general representation about your hard disk structure.
