Make more disk space
How to make more disk space? There are different ways. For example, to buy the new disk. Or to remove unnecessary files. But we’ll talk today about one more way – about disk space optimization and disk analysis. And program Moleskinsoft Directory Size will help us with this.
Directory Size is the small utility in the field of disk space analysis which analyzes and visually represents results of the analysis in a graphic kind. The program consists of several windows in which the disk space analysis is carried out. Analysis process is spent clockwise since the top left window. We will consider this process more in detail.
The top right program window is intended for primary data presentation within the limits of the directory analyzed. Choose any folder for the detailed analysis. For this purpose take advantage of a command on the top menu panel – «Scan – Scan a folder» and choose the folder you want to scan and analyze to make more disk space. In our window you receive primary representation about the folder colder – file names included in folder structure and their size.
In the next program window– top right one – it is possible to receive more detailed representation about the directory content. In particular, to learn how many files and folders enter into a folder, their size in kilobytes (megabytes, gigabytes) and percent, quantity of files and folders in folders of the lowest level. However, it’s not yet all. By means of tools on the top program panel it’s possible to receive high-grade representation about possibilities of program Directory Size in directory analysis. We will shortly consider these basic tools.
Firstly, as we’ve already spoken, in the program you can change measure scales – that is to use bytes, kilobytes, megabytes or gigabytes for measurement of size of files and folders.
Secondly, by means of “Filter” you can filter some values. In particular, to set file extensions with a mask (that is extensions which should have files, for the exception of scanning and analysis). To set the size proceeding from which scanning and data analysis is spent as well as the file owner.
Besides, the program allows to concretize in what kind of data in the top right window will be presented. For example – «Files and folders», “Extensions”, “Owners”, «Gradation of the sizes» and «Gradation of times».
Let’s consider the third program window – bottom right one. In this one you can receive evident representation about directory structure which study. In the program there are two variants of diagrammes for this purpose – pies and bars. Besides, in the window you can regulate gradient color and background. It is easy to guess, that the visual data presentation usage gives the chance fuller studying of a current disk situation, the structure of folders and files, as well as possibilities to make more disk space.
In the last window - bottom left one - you can receive fuller representation about a current disk situation – about the size of the basic logic disks in gigabytes and percent.
