Let’s talk about Structure
What is structure? It is apparently a set of interrelations between elements in system. Probably nobody will object that computer it the system too, very big and difficult. And as any system, the computer has the structure too.
The computer structure is created by set of folders, directories and the files filling disk space. It is very difficult to find any interrelation between them. Sometimes the files seem to be connected with each other inexplicably. Also remember the files happen to be different: musical ones, video, images, program, etc. All ones carry out their function and help another to carry out their function.
Size. “Size matters”. That’s right. After all the disk on which the system is kept, has the size which limits the sizes of kept files too. The more file size is the less free size for other files is. Does it mean that the more file or directory is the great value it has? Obviously not. If you investigate the PC, you’ll find out many files take place (sometimes very large – in megabytes or gigabytes) for nothing. A small file of some tens kilobytes size can play considerably the big role for the system.
But let’s talk about things without which any structure is impossible. About elements – files and folders (or directories). We have already told there is a set of kinds of files. But files in the system has not only functional value but also formal. They can be divided on extension, name, owner or creation time. For example MP3, VOB or JPG files. For each such extension there are programs and features of functioning. RAR and ZIP archives have separate value. They are similar to folders as keep files, and are similar to files as they have extension and can function as files.
As you see PC structure is an uneasy thing. It is very easy to get confused in it if to know that there are kept hundred thousand or even millions files which are interconnected among themselves on the computer. Why is it necessary to know structure, you ask? For the most effective utilization of the computer. Knowing structure, it is possible to place conveniently files and folders. And on the special basis. For example, musical files should be kept in Music folder. And in EXE folder - files with this expansion. Knowing structure it is possible to change it under the taste for convenience of PC work.
