Disk Cleaner is an universal program on PC clean up from stuff. What is stuff, you ask? Diversified one about which we will talk. The main thing is to know that sometimes computer stuff is not less or even more than the standing information. Do you remember we have named Disk Cleaner an universal program? It is not casual. It does not only delete dust from your computer, but also carries out set of other pleasant actions. Here are some of them.

Startup manager. It is an excellent means for management of programs you wish to start at system start.

Uninstaller. This powerful tool will approach to you if you wish to remove some programs.

File Attribute. By means of this option you can easily change attributes of any file: to make it read only, archive, system or hidden. Or to change date time (creation or modification).

In this post I’ll continue to tell about Disk Cleaner’s possibilities on a disk clean up and some other functions. Today we’ll talk about some more functions of clean up, file- and system management.

The last option in the Cleaners group is Registry clean – the button that’s responsible for Windows Registry clean up. The command works on the same principle as others: to choose Search, to wait search results, to choose necessary buttons for choosing (Select all, Unselect all, Invert all) and to press Delete. As you can see there is nothing to be difficult.

The second group of commands is System. Thanks to them Disk Cleaner can be considered to be a system manager. The first option is Startup manager helping to manage the programs started at Windows start. At the left there are types of commands (for example, Run or Run Once), on the right – the programs. Appointing or removing a tick you can choose the programs you wish to start at Windows start. Besides some commands are intended for automatic control: Run selected, Add new entry, Delete entry and Refresh. For example, the last command moves the programs with removed ticks downwards for presentation. The third command adds a new command etc.

Command Uninstaller is one more option of system management. In the main window of the program there are all programs you can remove. It’s enough to choose one of them and to press Uninstall. Besides Delete option is available to remove trash keys from the program window. Below it is possible to read the detailed information on a trash key – name, version, installation date, publisher and size.

Shortcut doctor command finds and deletes broken shortcuts. The work principle is like options of Cleaners have.

The last group of commands is Files&Folders allowing to use the program as a file manager. File attribute helps to change file and folder attribute. It is enough to choose only necessary file /folder at the left, to allocate on the right and to press Change only folder attribute (Change only file attribute). The option allows to choose 4 types attribute – Read Only, Archive, System and Hidden. Besides, it is possible to choose DateTime – Created, Modified and Accessed. For example, on current. Also Refresh, View and Up are accessible.

File wiper allows to securely wipe file or folder. It is enough to choose some object and to press Delete.

As I promised today I’ll talk about Disk Cleaner possibilities in more details. To be more exact about possibilities of those options I told yesterday about.

Let’s begin. Disk clean option (Cleaners group). The primary goal of the option is to remove junk files from the computer. For this purpose you need to choose a search directory (the place you’ll search junk files). In Disk Cleaner there are two ways to choose the directory. To choose a drive specified in the top part of the central program block (for example, C or D). Or to use Add in the right part. The chosen folder will join the drives. Then it is necessary to choose the directory for search (for example, disk D or the chosen folder) and to press Search. The program during seconds will find junk files. All you need to do is to choose files for removal (Select all, Unselect all, Invert all) and to press Delete.

Option System clean. It works even easier. The program automatically deduces system and special directories which can be cleaned up therefore you need only to choose the necessary ones. Here they are Temporary Internet files, Windows prefetch folder, Windows recent folder, Windows temp folder and Recycle Bin. The choice is regulated by the same options. For folders clean up from unnecessary files use Clean.

Option Internet clean expands possibilities on unnecessary Internet files removal which you have in System clean. Depending on a browser (the program supports three the most popular ones – Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox) folders for clean up differ. For example, Internet Cache or History.

Duplicate clean. In the top part of the program it is possible to choose folders for search duplicates and to establish necessary options of search. In Search path you can choose the button . With its help you can choose a folder for search. In Files group it is possible to choose groups of files (for example, musical one) you wish to include or exclude from the search. Search option also allows to filter data for search. File size allows filtering data on the file size. By means of Search it is possible to find all duplicates which are in the chosen folder and satisfying to the chosen conditions. Buttons on the right panel allow choosing one of three action variants: Copy selected file to custom folder, Move selected file to custom folder or Delete.

Today we’ll talk about Disk Cleaner. About the program which has been already recognized as one of the most effective tools of PC clean up from dust.

Start Disk Cleaner. Before you there will be the program window divided into 4 parts conditionally. Let’s more in detail talk about these parts.

The left program part contains options for performance of all Disk Cleaner functions. With its help you can do all the program functional allows (and it allows much). As the software has three basic directions of activity the options are divided into 3 groups: Cleaners, System and Files&Folders. All of them perform an independent part of work and practically are not connected with each other. The first group clears the computer from unnecessary files. It is a basic program function. It includes following options (depending on type of file with which it “works”): Disk Clean (to remove junk files), System clean (to delete files from system and special folders), Internet clean (to delete temp Internet files), Duplicate clean (to delete duplicate files) and Registry clean (to clean Windows Registry).

The System group carries out the role of system manager. It includes 3 commands: Startup manager (to manage files started at Window start), Uninstaller (to help to uninstall software) and Shortcut doctor (to find and repair broken shortcuts).

The last group - Files&Folders - works with file and folder attributes. File Attribute option helps to change file and folder attributes. File Wiper allows to securely wipe file.

The central program part (it occupies about 80 % of the space) is a “field” on which you can make some decisions and actions. It’s maintenance of carried out commands, a material on which you can do all you need (in the limits of the functional, of course). The window maintenance completely depends on the chosen command at the left so it resembles frame site structure. For example if you choose Shortcut doctor in this “field” you receive a field for broken shortcuts search, etc.

But special commands are required to add a directory in search, to find, to filter, to choose, to remove, etc. They present in the right program part. The given part also completely depends on the chosen commands at the left. For such options as Startup manager, Uninstaller and File Attribute it doesn’t work.

The last program element is a small commands menu in the top right corner. Commands are universal therefore work for all options. Here they are: Settings, About, Help and Exit.

Many of you have probably heard about PC dust. They are all the files occupying disk space and having advantage neither for you nor for the PC. They can be compared to mosquitoes which importunately try to exhaust blood offering nothing in exchange. How is it possible, you ask? Why are nonfunctional and even disfunctional elements there in the computer which should contain only the functional elements? There are some reasons and they depend on PC dust type.

For example, temp Internet files arise during Internet work. A web-server which you address as a client to keep on a hard disk different files which fix your options, personal profile on the site, results of other activity during web-navigation. Overwhelming majority of the files is useless for you and Internet navigation but they occupy disk space and complicate PC work.

Temp system files arise like temp Internet files. The difference is that it is not Internet server that creates dust files but system files and programs which also involuntarily create garbage files during their work. Naturally system files don’t “consider” these files as the dust after all they help to carry out system functions. However after performance of such functions they become useless saving their disk place.

Incorrect shortcuts are formed other wisely. If you press on such shortcut instead of program start there is a message «Sorry the file X isn’t found». The reason of their formation is a mismatch between the program and the shortcut. If you’ve removed such program it’s not the fact that the shortcut has been removed. It will occur only if the setup-program has itself created the shortcut during the program installation and considers it to be its system element. Otherwise (if shortcut has been created by you) the program-uninstaller won’t “notice” it and will keep in PC. Other reason is the file moving. In this case the shortcut refers to an empty place.

Duplicate files. The reason of occurrence of this files type is our carelessness and big disk space filled in thousand of various files. It is unreal to remember all these files, their mission and the name. As result we install programs, download music and video which have already been on the computer. Naturally, the clone (or the original - it is unimportant) is useless.
